Some where in a book, I''ve read that for a soul to achieve perfection it needs to spend 77 thousands of years. Till the perfection is reached, the soul need to take lives. To stop the chain of births and death is called "Moksha" or "Nirvana". All the souls must attain the state of moksha in this life or other. To make it self perfect, soul takes several lives. A soul takes a life depending on Karma the works he has done in the previous life. The cycle which denotes what we has done is called as "Karma". Simply to say if we do good, we will receive good, or if any bad is done we need to suffer for that. There will be no breakage in life cycle except moksha. Regarding the chain of birth and rebirths, Gowtham Buddha has given the following Four reasons Which are popularly known as "The Four Noble Truths". More over he has revealed a way to avoid the cycles of birth and death.
The Four Noble Truths
The four noble truths are not the first said words or the only said in this world. They were described in a simple way. Knowing Four Noble truths is not sufficient for a human. One should understand about these and try to follow a way to get out the rebirth cycle.
- Life means suffering
- Origin of suffering is attachment
- The end of suffering is attainable
- Path to end of suffering
Life means suffering
To Live means to suffer, because the human nature is not perfect as the world we live in. During our life time we need to suffer from different kind of physical suffering such as pain, sickness, injury, tiredness, old age and of course death. At same time we have psychological sufferings such as sadness, fear, frustration, disappointment and depression. In the similar way we have positive sufferings such as ease, comfort, happiness. Life with all these things is totally imperfect, incomplete because our world is not a permanent. This means we are never able to keep permanently what we strive for. And just as happy movements pas by; we our selves and our loved ones will pass away other day too.Origin of Suffering is attachment
The origin of suffering is attachment towards temporary things and ignorance with them. Temporary things not only include physical objects around us, but also ideas, In a greater sense all objects of our perception. Ignorance is lack of understanding of how our mind is attached to impermanent things. Reasons for suffering are desire, passion, love, pursuit of wealth and prestige, striving for fame or popularity, or in short climbing and clinging. Because the objects of our attachment are temporary, their loss is a must, thus suffering must follow. Objects of attachments also include the idea of a "self " which means a delusion, because there is not permanent self. What we call self is an imagine entity, and we are merely a part of constant becoming of the universe. The end of suffering is attainable
End of suffering can be attained through "NIRODHA". Nirodha means the unmaking of sensual carving and conceptual attachments. In other words to stop all the attachments. This expresses the idea that suffering can be ended by attaining detachment. Nirodha extinguishes all forms of attachments and clinging. This means suffering can be overcome through human activity. Simply by removing cause of suffering. Attaining and perfecting dispassion is a process of many levels that ultimately results in the state of Nirvana(Moksha). Nirvana means freedom from all worries, troubles, complexes, fabrications and ideas. Nirvana is not clear for those who have not attained it.Path to end of suffering
There is a path to end of suffering- a gradual path of self-improvement, which is more explained with Eightfold Path. It is the middle way between the two extremes of excessive self-indulgence and excessive simplicity; and this leads to end of rebirth. The second quality separates it from other paths which are merely "moving around the wheel of becoming", because these do not have a final object. The path to end of suffering can extend to many lifetimes, through out which birth is subject to karmic conditions. Carving, Ignorance, delusions and all its effects will disappear gradually as progress is done in one path. The four noble truths are not the first said words or the only said in this world. They were described in a simple way. Knowing Four Noble truths is not sufficient for a human. One should understand about these and try to follow a way to get out the rebirth cycle.
